Remove already installed Antivirus software

Having two separate Antivirus programs run into your computer may impede your system’s performance. It is very important to uninstall already installed antivirus from you’re your computer before you install a new one (or upgrade your Antivirus software). Depending on the Antivirus you have (Norton, McAfee, AVG, Panda, KasperSky etc.) you should perform the uninstall ion tasks.

Normally, un-installation the Antivirus software using the Add/ Remove utility by windows is just not sufficient. Remove Antivirus Software from Windows Computer

  1. Go to your control panel and click the category “program and features”.
  2. Locate your Antivirus software and click the uninstall program button
  3. Once the Antivirus Software is removed, restart your computer.

What if you can’t find the Antivirus Software you want to remove in the list of programs?

If you do not find the program that you want to uninstall in the “program and features” list, follow the steps below to remove your Antivirus Software:

  1. Boot your computer in the “Safe Mode”. Usually, you have to press F8 key, as soon as you restart your computer to get into Safe Mode.
  2. Press the Windows + R key and type appwiz.cpl. Press OK and this will open your control panel.
  3. Select the Antivirus Software you are looking for in the list and then click Uninstall/Remove.

Remove Antivirus Software from Mac

  1. Go to your control panel and open the category “program and features”.
  2. Locate your Antivirus software and click the uninstall program button
  3. On removing the Antivirus software, restart your computer.

Remove Panda Antivirus from computer

At many occasions, you may face problems related to Panda Antivirus for its sporadic behaviors. Especially, if there was an interruption during the automatic up-gradation of Pada Antivirus. You may also face pop-ups reminder if you have not renewed your Panda Antivirus on designated time.  You may like to Remove Panda Antivirus from your computer.

To remove Panda Antivirus from your Computer, go to Windows control panel and click “program and features”. Find the Panda Software Antivirus and click uninstall.

  5. Once the program is finished, it will automatically restart your computer. If not, then you may have to restart your computer manually for the system to be free of Panda Antivirus.

Uninstall Norton from your Windows computer

Norton Antivirus behaves as any other program in your computer. To Uninstall Norton, you will have to follow the standard un-installation steps.

  1. Press the Windows + R keys simultaneously to open “Run dialog box”.
  2. Type appwiz.cpl and press enter to open control panel
  3. Go to Program and Features and in the list of programs select Norton Security Product to Uninstall it
  4. Click continue if the Control windows appears
  5. Follow the instructions to Uninstall Norton
  6. Once the un-installation is done, restart your computer.

If you are not able to uninstall Norton Antivirus from your computer using the above steps, then you may have to follow these instructions.

  1. Go to Norton website and download – Norton Remove and Reinstall tool
  2. Save the above .Exe file at a convenient location on your system
  3. Double click the above file to run it and press “I agree” to the license agreement once you have read it
  4. Click at the button – Remove & Reinstall. If you see the Remove only button click it.
  5. Click Continue or Remove to uninstall Norton. This will start removing Norton and its traces from your system registry.
  6. Once finished, restart your computer.

Uninstall Norton from your Mac computer

To uninstall Norton Security from Mac, follow the instruction below:

  1. Find the Applications folder and then double-click on Norton Security
  2. In Menu Bar (Next to Apple icon), click Norton Security and then press “Uninstall”
  3. If you are in the Norton Security application window you will get the menu options
  4. You will be prompted to confirm “Uninstall Norton Security”. Click at “Uninstall”
  5. If asked, provide the administrative authentication and then click Install Helper.
  6. Click on “Restart Now in the uninstaller window.

Uninstall Norton AntiVirus or Norton Internet Security on Mac computer

  1. Locate the Applications folder and then click on “Symantec Solutions folder”
  2. Initiate the Symantec Uninstaller program by double clicking it
  3. In the window – Uninstall Symantec Products, check the box adjustment to Norton applications you would like to uninstall.
  4. Click on “Uninstall”
  5. Confirm if you are prompted for uninstalling Norton.
  6. Authenticate by providing the username and password if asked
  7. Delete the window listing the deleted items
  8. Restart your Mac PC.

If you were not able to uninstall Norton Program from your Mac using the above steps, then you may have to follow these instructions very carefully.

Uninstall Norton from your Mac computer being a system administrator

  1. From Norton Website find the file
  2. Download this expandable file and expand (unzip) it at a convenient location on your Mac computer
  3. Open “RemoveSymantecMacFiles” folder
  4. Double-click the “RemoveSymantecMacFiles.command” file
  5. This tool will only run if you are logged in as an administraror without a blank password
  6. Click Open on the App warning dialogue box.
  7. The file will be launched in the “Terminal” utility.
  8. Enter your Mac OS X administrator credentials and press enter key.
  9. To “remove all Symantec files and folders” you must type 1
  10. To “quit RemoveSymantecMacFiles without removing any files” you must type 2
  11. Click on Enter key
  12. Close all application (after saving them) and restart your Mac computer

Uninstall Norton from your Mac computer as a standard user

  1. From Norton Website find the file
  2. Download this expandable file and expand (unzip) it at a convenient location on your Mac computer
  3. On “menu bar” click “Go” and then go to “Utilities”
  4. Find Terminal utility and double click it
  5. In Terminal window type “su admin_username” followed by pressing enter.
  6. The “admin_username” should be the name of the administrator account for your Mac
  7. The window will prompt for Password. Type the administrator account password
  8. In Dock, click on “Downloads” icon and choose RemoveSymantecMacFiles
  9. The bash prompt will appear. Write sudo, and then drag RemoveSymantecMacFiles.command file from the RemoveSymantecMacFiles folder and drop it into Terminal window.
  10. Should you manually want type the command string, replace the “TestAccount” with your standard user account and press enter.
  11. If prompted, provide your Mac OS X administrator password followed by pressing enter key
  12. Now, to “remove all Symantec files and folders” you must type 1
  13. Save your work and restart your computer
